Minutes - 2009/09

Divine Mercy Women’s Guild
Membership Banquet
September 14, 2009

  • 6:00pm Mass celebrated by Father Gerry
  • New and returning members met in the parish hall for a pot luck banquet dinner.
  • 6:45pm: Opening prayer lead by Vi Despres
  • Father Gerry said Grace and blessed the fabulous array of food.
  • An ice breaker involving Skittles candy was lots of fun. Each member chose a colored piece of candy and depending on your color choice members revealed interesting facts about themselves.
  • An Introduction of Officers was given by Co-Presidents Denise Long and Beth McGurty. They include the Corresponding Secretary: Joan Buck, Treasurer: Cheryl Lastrina, Recording Secretary: Janice McKenzie, Prayer Advisor: Vi Despres, Directors: Helen L. & Jackie C, Advisors: Sue K. & Simone L. Committee Chairs were introduced. Prayer chain: Rose-Anna M, Comfort Foods: Jean F, Helping Hands: Joyce S, Morning crafts: Norma W, Evening Crafts: Helen L, Fair Coordinators: Gail L & Helen L.
  • Aprons: “Women’s Guild” aprons (modeled by Joan Buck) are available for sale. The aprons are worn at various Women’s Guild sponsored events to alert the parish community to the role of the Guild. If you are interested in purchasing your own apron please call Sue Koziell @ 525-4934 to place an order. Cost is $10.
  • Host for October meeting: If you are interested in hosting the October meeting please sign-up or notify Beth or Denise.
  • Craft meeting: The morning and evening groups are busy completing projects to sell at the November Holiday Stroll fundraiser. If you are interested in joining the ladies craft group please feel free to show up at the Parish Hall on Tuesday mornings at 9am or at 6:30pm on Monday nights. All are welcomed.
  • Helping Hands: Joyce S is updating her list for women available to help out with funerals. She is looking for bakers and or those willing to give of their time to help out with receptions. Any amount of participation will be appreciated.
  • Coat Drive: We will be collecting winter coats at the next Guild meeting on October 5th. The donated coats will be given to Helen Limina and the Divine Mercy Parish Confirmation class. They will take your donated coats to Boston and participate in the City Reach program. This supervised program offers the students an opportunity to help the less fortunate who are homeless.
  • Outreach and Ministries Fair: The Women’s Guild is providing the baked goods for this event and we will have an information table to inform and recruit the parish of our activities. Janice M is putting together a display with pictures and Gail L will bring in her display. There is a signup sheet for baking.
  • Raffle: 10 lucky members won table centerpieces and Guild member Kathy Sullivan won a free dinner at the March 8th Mystery Ride for bringing a potential new member to the meeting.
  • Our Lady of Hope: Pamphlets are available at the back of the room. The new schedule is listed. Please see Beverly S if you would like more information.
  • Are you over 80? If so, you no longer need to pay dues. If you did pay dues this evening, you are entitled to a refund. Please see Cheryl L.
  • Secret Angels were revealed!
  • Closing prayer: Vi Despres
  • Thank you to all members who brought in a wonderful variety of delicious food. Desserts of apple crisp and brownies were provided by the Guild officers.
  • Our next business meeting is scheduled for October 5th at 6:30pm in the Divine Mercy Parish hall.
Respectfully submitted,
Janice McKenzie
Recording Secretary
