Divine Mercy Women's Guild
October 9, 2016
A “Get
to Know You” Activity from Lauren began our evening, Meet Your Match, a fun way
to mingle and chat with the ladies.
Elaine
Giacomo opened the meeting with a prayer to the Virgin Mary
Business Meeting
Sue
Koziell welcomed all Members and introduced returning Member, Raymonde Richard
and new Guild Member, Rachel Klaessig.
OLD BUSINESS
Sue distributed
an updated 2016-2017 Calendar.
Secretary’s Report
Sue
explained that the Women’s Guild blog address was listed on the calendar and
that the minutes are posted on the blog shortly after every monthly meeting for
those interested in reading them and suggested that they not be read at the
meeting to save time and not be distributed to save paper, but she would post a
copy before each meeting for those who do not go to the blog and mail copies to
those who do not have computer access. The Members approved this plan.
Treasurer’s Report
Beth
McGurty distributed copies of the budget for 2016-2017. She announced that an audit of the Guild’s
account had been completed and everything was in order. She proceeded to
explain expenses for both years indicating any changes in money allotted and
amount totals. Most business/event expenses remained the same with the exception
of First Communion, which will slightly increase for the cost of rosaries to be
given to First Communicants; the cost has yet been determined. Beth also added
$50 for publicity for this year’s Fair due to a change in location. Beth also suggested
giving $100 to Divine Mercy for use of the Hall for this year’s Fair. She
increased the amounts given to Deacon Dennis and Msgr. Gerry from $50 to $100
each, for Birthdays and Christmas gifts.
Beth advised
Guild Members that although she is still on the Guild Account, she would no
longer be signing checks; either Sue and/or Msgr. Gerry depending on the amount
will complete that task.
A motion
was made and all changes were accepted and approved for the new budget.
Parish Picnic: Lauren Martin and Rachel Klaessig
will be chairing the 2017 Parish Picnic.
Secret Angels: Kathy Sullivan spoke about Secret
Angels, explaining to new members about the program and inviting anyone who
still wanted to participate to meet with her. All Angels will be revealed at
the September meeting thus allowing Angels to participate through the summer if
they wish.
NEW BUSINESS
Holiday Stroll
Coordinator: Karen Bannister has met with the
other Holiday Stroll participants and the Guild will receive a report at next
month’s meeting.
Craft Table: Kathy Sullivan asked that those who
are making crafts at home to please let her know beforehand what they are
making and how many; this year we will have more room to display craft items
so if you are making items that need special attention or if you know
someone who is crafting for the Fair that doesn’t come to meetings, please tell
Kathy; she needs to know ahead of time. Also all craft items will be priced the
week of the Fair before the Nov. 19 date. If you need help getting your
items to the Hall for pricing that week, let Kathy know; someone will pick up
your craft items. It’s difficult to price and display items brought the day of
the fair. This year we have a bigger space and want all our craft items to be
beautifully displayed and properly priced. The specific pricing days and
times will be given at next month’s meeting. ***Rhea Taylor
desperately needs fresh white pine cones and fluted berry bowls. Contact
Rhea 808-0130, if you have those items. Call Kathy 924-9967 if you need
further information and/or can help that day and/or for the mini-fair
Bake Table: Janice McKenzie described the yearly
Christmas plates that are assembled and as in years past, she is requesting
3 dozen cookies for those baking for this event. These cookie trays are
beautifully created the morning of the Fair and combine the variety of
home-baked cookies and are always a big hit at the Fair. Janice also
welcomes any other baked goods, muffins, cakes, candy, jams, and breads. ***This
year Simone Legace is donating, homemade 9” piecrusts for those wishing to bake
pies. A sign-up pie sheet was distributed at the meeting. For further
information and if you want to bake a pie call Janice 588-2356
Raffle Table: Cheryl Lastrina announced she still
needs any homemade canned items for the baskets she and Linda Caracappa create
each year; also needed are gift cards and new items for baskets. For more info,
call Linda 924-3504
Café: Beth McGurty has everything she needs
but did mention that she would train any Guild Member who might be interested
in running the café in the future, could work with Beth this year; it’s simple
and fun.
Decorations: Cheryl Riley and Kathi Wasserloos are
working together decorating the Hall this year. If any Members have lit
garlands and battery window candles, Cheryl needs to borrow them to decorate
our beautiful windows. If you want to help or have other holiday items that
could be used, please call Cheryl 831-9834 or Kathi 588-2253
Farewell Reception for Monsignor
Gerry: The Reception Ministry will
be hosting a reception for Msgr. Gerry on October 23rd from 4-5pm. A
